Job Title Description: Development Associate 

Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Annual Fund Manager

Salary Range: $41,885 - $52,356 Based on Experience

Position Description

Join an energized and hardworking team of fundraising, marketing, and volunteer engagement professionals seeking to solve hunger in Northern Illinois. The Development Associate serves as a support for the Annual Fund and larger Marketing, Volunteer and Philanthropy (MVP) team. Duties will include work related to donor relations, peer to peer fundraising, mailings and communications, events, data-entry and general administrative support. As a member of a fast-paced philanthropy team, the Development Associate supports a variety of efforts and must be highly organized, detail oriented, independent, flexible with strong communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute stewardship mailings, such as holiday cards, birthday and milestone cards, new donor packets, event invitations and impact reports.
  • Oversee the Food Bank’s peer-to-peer fundraising program including managing the giving platform, building communication plan, and providing reports.
  • Actively steward our peer-to-peer Fund Drive fundraisers to ensure they are making and reaching fundraising goals and work to renew annually.
  • Provide donor relations support by receiving donor calls (i.e. updating records, tax statements, taking donations over phone, etc.)
  • Collaborate with volunteer team to engage skills-based volunteers to support administrative tasks such as mailings, phone calls or at events. 
  • Create lists and assign to the team and Board donor stewardship activities such as thank you calls, mailings or video thank yous.
  • Steward our Serving Hope monthly donors through communication touches and outreach to lapsed donors.
  • Steward our individual donors through personal thank you calls, emails, notes.
  • Support fundraising and stewardship events of the Philanthropy team through mailing lists, event logistics, registration, invitation, vendor/venue coordination., etc. 
  • Serve as contact for Food Drive inquiries. 
  • Provide data-entry support as needed for philanthropy, marketing or volunteer teams.
  • Manage stationery and stamp inventory.
  • Provide logistical meeting support for Chief Philanthropy Officer for team meetings and retreats.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 years of demonstrated success in fundraising, either paid or as a volunteer
  • Knowledge and experience with Peer-to-Peer fundraising, either through own campaigns or managing a platform/team 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and eager to build donor relationships.
  • Organizational skills, multi-tasking and attention to detail are required. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, required.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database
  • Experience with Qgiv or similar peer-to-peer platform

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel

Minimal travel may be requested within our 13-county service area.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. 

Position Location

This position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location. A hybrid schedule with some remote work days can be discussed but the majority of the time will be spent in office.
